Poor me, I’m one of those sad ladies you see looking through boutique shop windows wanting to buy all the clothes and shoes (and winter coats) that my heart desires.
Alas, my bank account often screams to me from the hole in the wall on the other side of the road – don’t you bloody dare.
Fortunately I have some degree of self control and therefore end up spending my dosh on food – and that’s not doing much for my thighs!
Please tell me I am not the only one who refuses to spend money on what I cant afford.
As we are in a recession in the UK, I know that there are some additions to my club. Welcome, I am so pleased that you could join us – although you are more than likely wishing we could go back to the days of cheap credit, frivolity and living the luxury lifestyle that most of us cant afford.
It seems crazy to me that there are people who regularly spend thousands of £’s or $’s on designer clothes. I say this not just because I realise that there are more important things we can spend our money on, but because I am extremely jealous that I was not born the daughter of a Russian Billionaire, an American Hotelier or an African president.
If I were I would at least create world peace before I went to buy my Pucci dress or gorgeous patent leather Jimmy Choo pumps that I saw on the net-a-porter website.
Deep sigh… However, although we would all love to have excessive amounts of money to spend on our attire, most do have a budget. If I’m looking for throw away fashion the UK high street is perfect esp Primarje (primark to the uninitiated) and you can always find bargain accessories in Camden market.
You might also go to Miss Selfridge, Top Shop or the many other shops that give you a fashion fix for a fraction of the cost of designer labels.
The major problem with lowcost fashion is the human cost. Unfortunatly cheap clothes demand cheap workers - what does a wannabe member of the Glamourati do?!
For those of you who have your own secret well priced fashion dens, be it online or on the road – please share it with me and your Glamorous brothers and sisters: Before I am forced to shop in charity shops (no offence, but it’s just not my thing).
Love Ya.
